Celebrate Earth Day in Beautiful Lowndes County

Burkville:  Lowndes Citizens United for Action (LCUFA) invite the public to enjoy Earth Day on Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their headquarters on Highway 21 North of Hayneville.

Participants will enjoy free food and great prizes and will learn about recycling and other environmental issues.  LCUFA is in it's 8th year, and leads Lowndes County in environmental issues as well as community cleanups.  LCUFA membership is open to Lowndes County residents.  They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at their headquarters.

"We live in a county that is absolutely beautiful", said LCUFA President Debra Harris.  "LCUFA is working hard to keep it that way", she continued.

LCUFA hopes to bring awareness of the benefits of recycling and keeping the earth clean and green.  Along with LCUFA, WildLaw, a nonprofit environmental law firm; Legacy; PALS, Cornerstone Community Foundation and Southern Partners Fund, are helping with this celebration.

"The people of Lowndes County came together to stop the landfills", said Harris.  "Now we want them to come together and help us celebrate Earth Day".
