MAY IS FIRE FIGHTERS FIRST RESPONDERS RECOGNITION MONTH!  The Lowndes County Commission has signed a "Proclamation of Honor" honoring the Lowndes County First Responders and Volunteers Fire Fighters.  LCUFA congratulates and thanks those who look out for our safety in Lowndes County, especially those who do so with no compensation other than the thanks of the community.  It takes a special person with real commitment to do these jobs.  and we want you to know you are Number One in our Book! Than you for all you do out of the goodness of your hearts.

COMING 2012-2013:  CIVICS ON THE ROAD

Lowndes Citizens United for Action will hold a series of workshops throughout the county and bring in the experts.  You won’t have to rely on what somebody told you; you can find out for yourself in a casual and relaxed atmosphere by people who know.    Depending on funding, we want to bring you the following information:

·         How roads get paved?

·         How our county commission works and what rights and powers they have?

·         How state and local laws are made and who gets to decide on the rules that we have to live by?

·         What does the Ethics Commission do?

·         What are your legal rights as citizens in a public meeting?

·         What does the public have a right to know?

·         What’s legal and not legal when it comes to voting?

·         How does the court system work?

If you, your church or community group is interested in hosting one of these workshops and you are in Lowndes County, please send an e-mail with what you are interested in to: info@lcufa.com or call us at 334-613-7891.

Project Recycle!  LCUFA has been researching recycling.  Individual members are sorting their trash and hauling their recyclables into Montgomery. By making small changes in your daily habits you can have a positive impact on Lowndes County environment.

Project Clean-Up:  Lowndes Citizens United for Action organizes community clean-ups throughout Lowndes County.

Every 3rd Saturday we meet at LCUFA headquarters at 8a.m.- 9 a.m.  to clean up our "Adopt-A-Mile" on Highway 21 north of Hayneville.

As we share our organizing skills with each community, we will encourage and inspire those communities to continue with four clean-ups per year on their own.  People who pick up trash are less likely to litter.

To volunteer and help us keep Lowndes County clean,  contact 334-613-7891 or email info@lcufa.com.
